Especially in Google (or any other search engine); since this is where the vast majority of users go before finding your website. However, we are also sure that, in your searches, you came across terms that you did not know. And because of it, you are probably confused.
But do not worry! Today we are going to review all these terms, and we are going to explain them in a simple way. In such a way that, in the end, you have greater clarity on how to proceed with your search engine marketing strategy.
These are the terms that we are going to see:

The acronym SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization (or, in Spanish: search engine optimization).
This term refers to the series of actions that are carried out in order to make your business appear on Google. And, the main characteristic of these actions is that you can carry them out without investing in advertising. That is, with a good SEO strategy, your online business will appear in search engines without paying a single peso. Unlike SEM positioning, which is one in which you pay for your ads to appear on Google.
However, a good search engine strategy is one that finds the middle ground between the two.
Now, what are these actions? We are going to mention them below, along with the terms that we are going to review.
These are words that describe your business. But not only that, but they are also terms that you know your audience is looking for; and with which your business can find.
For example, if you have an industrial strapping machine design and production company, you are not going to use words like “Sonixs technology” or “TRC-6”; because nobody looks for that. On the contrary, you are going to use terms like “automatic strapping machines”, or “strap sale”. That is, terms that you know the audience you are targeting is looking for.
Or, they can also be terms that describe the benefits of your product or service. For example, if your company develops and sells business management software; It may be that very few people look for it like that, because it is a very useful service, but one that (at least in Mexico), very few know about it. In this case, within your keywords you can add terms that describe your product (such as “management software”); and, in addition, those that describe its benefits. For example “savings in processes”, or “reduce operating expenses”.
As a bonus: it is not recommended to exceed eight indexed keywords on a website; And each page within your domain must have its own keywords indexed. However, this is easy with Yoast Seo, the WordPress plugin for indexing these terms.
Internal and external links
Internal links are all those links that redirect to a page within your website.
For example, at this moment you are inside this note that talks about SEO terms. But I can also tell you that a lot of SEO positioning has to do with Google’s machine learning. And that, if you want to know more about that topic, read this other entry.
If you entered the marked link, you will have noticed that you are still in the metricaplus.com domain. So, that is an internal link, because we do not leave the domain where you are. But I just sent you to another place, within the same site, where there may be more information of your interest.
For their part, external links are those that, when you click on the link, do take you to a different domain. For example; If I want to recommend this article on how to generate quality backlinks, when you click you will no longer be on the Metrica Plus site, but on HubSpot.
Backlinks and Domain Authority
Unlike internal and external links; backlinks are all those links within another website, which redirect to yours.
It is worth mentioning that this is one of the aspects that has the most weight when it comes to Google positioning. This is because if everyone mentions your website, Google takes it as trustworthy. Therefore, your site is gaining more authority on the web, and will rise in position in any search engine.
Now, domain authority is an indicator that measures the authority, quality and credibility of the content of a website. Ratings range from 1 to 100, with 100 being the highest. This metric helps improve your site’s search engine rankings; and it is determined by the amount of links that your site has: internal, external and above all, backlinks.
SEO Title, Meta Description and Slug
The SEO title is, as the name implies, is the title of the site or page within the site. For example, if this entry appears in your search engine, the SEO title will be its name. It is easy to identify the SEO title, since it is the blue text that appears first when Google returns the results.
The meta description is the text that will appear in Google when your site appears. This text can be seen just below the title; and SEO takes it into account, since it is the description of the content that they will find on the site. Here you have to choose the words very well, since you only have 156 characters to explain it; and within those characters you must consider at least one keyword.
For its part, the slug is the final link of the page. It is recommended that the slug also have at least one of the keywords embedded.
Alt Attributes, Word Density, and Readability
The Alt attribute is basically the keyword with which you want an image to appear. You have surely noticed that searches can be done by images; and anyone you add to your site with a good Alt attribute, rest assured that it will appear. To place it, you must enter the configuration of the selected image from your site administrator.
Word density refers to how many words are found on the current page. For SEO to take it as good, there must be a minimum of 300. On the other hand, if we talk about blog articles, it is recommended at least a thousand. In this way, you can make the most of all the aspects that we have already seen.
For its part, readability is how easy it is for the user to read your text. For good readability, be sure to use short sentences, transitional words, and paragraphs of no more than six lines. Don’t use words that are not understood either, and be sure to include subheadings every 300 words maximum.
This is how long it takes to load your website; both the computer and any mobile device (smartphone or tablet). An excellent loading time does not exceed 3 seconds. In turn, a good loading time does not exceed 7 seconds. Starting at 8, you need to make improvements to your site so that it loads faster. Remember that Google is taking this aspect more and more into account as well. That is, it can increasingly affect your SEO positioning.
Now that you know these SEO terms, you can get started!
